Official Urge Caution with Generators During Power Outages
With many in snow-slammed areas without power, New Hampshire officials are urging caution for those that are running their own generators, reports WMUR:
The biggest risk is with the portable ones, people put them too close, or inside the building which we don't recommend. It should be 5 to 10 feet away from the building, and point the exhaust away from any openings inside the building, doors, windows, and vents that vent inside," said Jim Saulnier, with the Audburn fire department.
It's important to follow all safety procedures when using a generator, including ventilation and electric hookups as specified in the owner's manual.
